Behind the Design with De Rosée Sá

In April, the team at De Rosée Sá approached Simpsons about their upcoming project: a bathroom scheme for the 2026 WOW!house at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour in collaboration with acclaimed stone and tile experts Ca' Pietra. They asked us to make a pair of mirrors to their design, to be hung side-by-side above a striking rust-orange marble vanity - and all within a five-week timeline from idea to installation.

Handcrafted in our UK workshop and finished in antique brass, the mirrors feature a slim metal frame with brass rings attached to the top and bottom. In keeping with the look and feel of the overall concept, which was inspired by a nostalgic Mediterranean seaside hotel, the mirrors are elegant and romantic. Classic, yet also modern.

In the Q&A with De Rosée Sá below, discover the inspiration behind the WOW!house project, as well as their advice for creating an atmospheric bathroom at home.

"A place for atmosphere and fantasy,

where art and sculptural mirrors can shift the mood entirely."

What is the inspiration or theme behind your bathroom scheme?

Slightly faded, cinematic, and evocative of early summer by the sea, the scheme is inspired by the atmosphere of a nostalgic Mediterranean hotel. Through natural stone, warm light and considered detailing, the aim was to create a space that feels transportive, romantic and timeless.

Tell us about the details of the mirrors and how you got to the final design.

We wanted to design a brass mirror that felt integrated with the finishes and language of the room. The form is intentionally simple and understated, allowing the materiality to take centre stage. The defining detail is the pair of brass rings positioned at the top and bottom of the frame, creating the illusion that something substantial is being suspended and introducing a subtle trompe l’oeil quality that connects to the wider concept. Although minimal, these accents give the mirrors presence, weight and a quiet sense of craftsmanship.

Why did you choose Simpsons to create the mirrors?

We chose Simpsons because we’ve long admired their refined mirror work. Being based in the Design Centre made them highly accessible and collaborative, and they were very receptive in understanding the brief. Their experience with bronze finishes was particularly important in ensuring the mirrors sat comfortably within the scheme.

What are some of the key considerations when designing a bathroom? And any creative ways to accommodate them?

Bathrooms don’t have to feel purely sanitary or utilitarian, and we prefer to approach them as fully designed rooms. You can introduce furniture, layered lighting such as lamps and sconces, and more expressive materials. They’re also a place for atmosphere and fantasy, where art and sculptural mirrors can shift the mood entirely. The best schemes balance the rigour of a wet space with the softness and personality of a living room.
